Paul has been a fixture of the Sacramento blues scene for many years. In the early 90's he performed and recorded with the SAMMY award-winning band The Soul Prophets, which recorded the CD "From the Old School" on Have Mercy Records. Paul later formed his own band, Blue Soul, which soon became a local favorite. Paul Vieira has been fortunate enough to have known and played with blues legend Johnny Heartsman, who advised him early on in his career to " Be true to your heart, pay attention and play it how ya feel it". KIRK HOOPER - Drums
Kirk began studying drums and percussion at the age of nine, under the tutelage of legendary Sacramento percussionist Stan Lunetta. He continued to passionately pursue his studies for more than ten years, leaving college three years into a degree in music education to travel with several successful bands throughout the United States and Canada. In the late 70's he stopped playing professionally, when life got in the way of his passion for music. But he held onto his drums and always had a practice pad and pair of sticks handy. Twenty years later, the urge to play again became overwhelming, and after a year of wood shedding, joined the Empire Blues Band and played with them almost every weekend for a couple of years. Soon after they broke up, he was called to sub for Mama Z and Hot Buttered Blues. This led to holding down their drum chair for close to five years, playing throughout central and northern California. When not playing with Two Tone Steiny and the Cadillacs, Kirk is an on call sub musician for numerous jazz and blues bands in the Sacramento area. |
